Agonism or identity? A response to Chin’s and Levey’s recognition as acknowledgement: symbolic politics in multicultural democracies

In their thoughtful and thought-provoking article, Clayton Chin Geoffrey Brahm Levey argue that a distinctive conception of recognition as acknowledgement can should be used in order to achieve the symbolic inclusion all members multicultural democracies. this response, I offer number critical – but hope also constructive remarks on aspects thesis. First, discuss forms which they identify. Second, question alleged distinctiveness acknowledgement. Third, consider status role democracy democratic deliberation argument. Fourth, analyse claim struggles for additive processes.
